Loved this piece. This town deserves the best in all things- including diasporic longing. Bucks in six forever.

This was like an essay that was perfectly aimed at me, I love it. Relate so much to that younger idea of life only starting after moving away from home (did that with chicago and depaul as well!), but for so many years I missed Seattle and the PNW, and the things that kept me tied to that city were sports!! Though in those years I would get incredibly bitter during the NBA season since the Sonics had been STOLEN from us, and each year I had to watch Oklahoma City revel in the teams that they had plundered from seattle. Drives me mad (still does). One of my big regrets from my years in Chicago is that I never made it up to Milwaukee! I wanted to go to a Brewers game but, alas, it didn't happen :/ For your sake, I hope Seattle gets a basketball team soon so at least you can watch the Bucks come into town.

They almost moved the Bucks awhile back, I can only imagine how painful that would be!! But then you do end up with funny pairings…like the *Utah* Jazz lol. I hope Seattle gets a team too, or better yet, Vancouver.

Really loved this!! Sports were always a way to connect with my hometown too, but now Oakland has lost all our teams. Gonna go see if the library here will buy this book..

I’m sure they will! I’d be surprised if they don’t already have it tbh.

I really loved reading this. As a Denver Nuggets fan who no longer lives in Colorado, I know that feeling of your team finally getting a championship and having to celebrate from afar, making a model of this former home where your feet have landed. Columbus is home for me now, and I’ve since learned to love it here, too. Thank you for this.
