On your goal to read something in French—graphic novels can be a great way to bridge the gap! I just started learning French last year but having the imagery there helps a lot with understanding tone, new vocab and context 🫶🏼
these are such good reading goals!! i feel the exact same about rereading, part of me has a huge list of books i want to reread and then another part of me thinks ‘but you could be reading a new book and find a new favourite!’……i desperately need to clear out my goodreads want to read too
congrats on the re-brand, 'slow beauty' is such a great orientation that I'm really trying to embody this year. Also on TBRs, that is an impressive number of books!!! idk how you do it, my brain would hurt at seeing so many books on my shelf like that
Haha at a certain point I kinda went into a trance and went with it. I’m trusting that if I got rid of some titles I would’ve actually loved, they’ll find their way back to me.
I wish there was some way for me to notate on Goodreads like WHO recommended the books to me to re-determine if it's a top trusted source- I simply forget how some books make it to the list!!
But I've never tried to do a slim down of my want to read list and I absolutely should. I always reel considering the fact that we don't have time to read every book we'd like to in a lifetime.
I would never want to work for Bezos but sometimes I think with like a month and a few other designers I could really turn GoodReads around. So many obvious features, like adding those types of notes, that just aren’t there bc they neglect it!
And I know…when I think about everything I’ll never read…it’s difficult.
It feels like it would take SO LITTLE to make Goodreads better! They haven't even tried once?? Every piece of proof that Jeffy and I hold no shared values.
So little. I vaguely remember them giving it a really basic face lift like 5 years ago but nothing major, nothing to really make it more useful. I feel like they expected people to stop using it at some point but underestimated the dedication of book people lol.

Oh great idea!
I go through my Goodreads tbr a few times a year and sort out some of the mess, but I haven’t done a really dedicated clean out — you’ve inspired me!
Good luck!

The call of the unread book is so strong!!
